This is the story of Arthur Doyle, once a promising saxophonist in the New York school of Jazz' New Thing in the late 1960s and 1970s. Doyle, like many of his contemporaries, has struggled to maintain a healthy balance between life and music. The evidence of years spent pursuing a completely original sound is all around him. It is in his eyes, in his home and in the voices of his family. This film tells the story of a man who managed to live through his relationship with music. Young-Hoon works for his mother’s restaurant, but he prefers hanging out with his friends. He then meets Yeun-ah, a tough lady that works in a room salon as a barmaid. She takes the initiative by coming to his restaurant, when he is working, and propositions him in a playful way. They become a couple, but their relationship is always volatile. Two of Cherry's older suitors both get to hear of him and although they don't know each other both end up at his place for a prediction on their chances with Cherry. They become desperate and each decides to pay off her room mate to steal her shoes. They get in a big fight over her and she decides to run off with Bob. However, they follow the couple, confront them and make trouble.

Ella (Jackie Manker) returns to her mom's summer cottage in Centralia, Illinois and connects with a younger jazz musician Tyler (Cody Heuer) at her stepfather's wake. To round out the love triangle, her mother Naomi (Sandy Sparks) has another man in mind -- age-appropriate Dr. Gordon (Bill Finkbiner).

Gabriella, a young twenty-five year old from Milan , is married to the lawyer Bernasconi, a middle-aged man, without scruples, who in the past had been the lover of Gabriella's mother.
